Falcons Men’s Golf Team Win Bronze at OCAA Championships
The Fanshawe Falcons men’s golf team competed at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Golf Championships at Watson’s Glen Golf Course in North Pickering from September 29 to October 1, where they captured a bronze medal.
(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Falcons men's golf team competed at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Golf Championships at Watson's Glen Golf Course in North Pickering from September 29 to October 1, where they captured a bronze medal.
The Falcons finished the three-day tournament with a total score of 933 (301, 313, 319), landing at +69 over par. Leading the way for Fanshawe was third-year golfer John Van Bilsen (Glencoe, ON), who carded rounds of 73, 76, and 78 (+11, 227) to place tied for ninth overall. Close behind was first-year Falcon Cohen Adamson (Kemptville, ON), who finished tied for 11th with rounds of 72, 80, and 78 (+14, 230). Rounding out the bronze medal-winning squad were Austin Kuiack (London, ON) (T-16th, 239), Jonathan Rossel (Barrie, ON) (20th, 240), and Ethan Slaats (West Lorne, ON) (28th, 253), each contributing to the podium finish.
Fanshawe's women's team also competed at the OCAA Championships, placing fourth after carding rounds of 207, 210, and 198 for a three-day total of 615. The women's team featured OCAA Top Rookie Kailey Cromwell (Brantford, ON) (7th, 273) and Alexis Birch (Woodstock, ON) (9th, 342).
The OCAA Championships marked the conclusion of head coach Richard Demeester's first season at the helm for the Falcons. Between both the men's and women's teams, Fanshawe landed on the podium six times across the OCAA Invitational and Championship tournaments.
