(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Women's Basketball team (10-10, 5th West) finished fourth in the province at the OCAA provincial championship hosted by Algonquin College in Ottawa.
The Falcons dropped a hard-fought 69-60 contest to No. 15 nationally ranked and eventual champions Mohawk (15-5, 3rd West) in the semi-final. Standout rookie forward Ashlyn Anderson (Latchford, ON) was named player of the game, with 18 points on an efficient 9/15 from the floor. Anderson also set a new Fanshawe Women's Basketball playoff record for most rebounds in a single playoff game with 19 and added five steals.
Fanshawe then fell in the bronze medal game to No. 1 nationally ranked Algonquin (17-1, 1st East) by a score of 68-50 in front of a loud Wolves' home crowd. Fourth-year guard Karyn TeBrake (Ottawa, ON) was named the player of the game with 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Anderson and Layla Mackenzie (Camlachie, ON) chipped in with 10 points each. Despite falling in the OCAA tournament, the Falcons had an impressive playoff run, improving from last year's result. They will look to continue to build their young squad in the 2025-26 season.
