Falcons Sweep Season Series Against Sault College
The Fanshawe Falcons women's volleyball (3-2) hosted the Sault College Cougars (0-6) for the second half of their back-to-back on Sunday afternoon, this time knocking off the visiting Cougars in four sets, 3-1.
(London, ON) - The Fanshawe Falcons women's volleyball (3-2) hosted the Sault College Cougars (0-6) for the second half of their back-to-back on Sunday afternoon, this time knocking off the visiting Cougars in four sets, 3-1.
It was a huge day for the Falcons second-year middle, Jillian Lancaster (London, ON) who picked up a career-high 16 points to spearhead Fanshawe's offence all match. The main setup person for the Falcons was Chloe Hunter (Oshawa, ON) who also had a career-high in the match with 39 assists.
Fanshawe cruised in the first two sets, dispatching the Cougars 25-17 and 25-13 to take an early 2-0 lead in the match. However, a feisty Sault team wouldn't go down without a fight as they battled their way to a 27-25 third set win, extending the match to a fourth set.
The fourth set saw the Falcons settle back in and take control of the match. Fanshawe took the fourth set 25-21 on the back of excellent play by Lancaster and Autumn Mikel (Mitchell, ON) who finished her night with 13 kills. Mikel and an impressive 29 kills between the two matches against the Cougars after a 16 kill performance last night.
The Falcons next match will be in Hamilton as the Birds have a date with the Mohawk Mountaineers on Saturday, November 15th at 6:00 p.m. The Falcons will return home for another weekend slate of volleyball as they take on Cambrian on Saturday, November 22nd at 4:00 p.m. and Boreal on Sunday, November 23rd at 12:00 p.m.
