(London, ON) – The Fanshawe Falcons women's volleyball team (6-2) matched up against the Boreal Vipers (0-8) for their second game in as many days, and the Birds made quick work of the visitors, sweeping them in three sets.
The Falcons' dominance was on full display early as they jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the first set. Fanshawe's attacking play was incredibly efficient, as they did not commit an attacking error until the third set. The Birds cruised to a 25-9 first set victory to open the match.
The second set followed the same script, with the Falcons starting on an 8-0 run. A pair of first-year Falcons, Autumn Mikel (Mitchell, ON) and Natalie Campbell (London, ON) led the charge, finishing with 12 and 11 points respectively, the top two totals in the match.
The third set saw more pushback from the Vipers, who battled back from an early deficit to tie the set at 21 apiece. However, the Birds composed themselves and closed out the match, courtesy of a massive block from Piper Morrison (Whitby, ON), taking the set 25-21 and completing the sweep.
With back-to-back wins this weekend, the Falcons extend their win streak to six matches ahead of a major showdown against the undefeated, number-one nationally ranked Humber Hawks (7-0) on November 27 at 6:00 p.m. at the Humber Athletic Centre in Toronto.
