(London, ON) – The Falcons men's volleyball team (14-6, 3rd West) competed at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Championship from February 27-28, capturing the OCAA bronze medal for the second consecutive season and taking a spot on the podium for the fourth year in a row. The OCAA final four event was hosted by Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario.
The Falcons started their action with a tough semi-final matchup against the host Cambrian Shield (16-4, 1st West) who they split the season series with 1-1. In this match there was little separating the two squads as Fanshawe stole the first two sets 25-22, 25-19 before the home team Cambrian responded winning the third and fourth sets 25-21, 25-15. In the fifth and final set the Falcons had their hearts broken as Cambrian closed out Fanshawe 15-11 to win the match. Falcons outside hitter, Tanner Paterson (Baden, ON) was named Fanshawe's player of the game for his 18 point and 14 kill performance. Paterson was also named an OCAA Championship All-Star for the second consecutive year to close out his collegiate career.
After falling short of the finals, the Falcons found themselves matched up against the East Division first seed Seneca Sting (17-3) after they dropped their semi-final match to Humber. Determined to finish the weekend with hardware the Falcons took down Seneca in four sets, 25-15, 25-18, 23-25, 25-13. Leading the way for Fanshawe was Jayden Crowther (London, ON) who was named player of the game after collecting 12 points and three blocks.
The Falcons men's volleyball team will look to return to the OCAA Championship for a fifth consecutive season in 2027.
